On a wide ironing board, stretch the shrunk item to the desired dimensions and use straight pins to pin it in place. Hold the iron so it floats above the clothing, apply steam liberally to the item, then leave it as-is until dry.(If you have purchased clothing that you suspect might shrink, it's a good idea to make a tracing of it before washing it, so correcting for shrinkage will be easier.)
